Category: Market
Size: Med-Large
Condition: Good
Inhabitants: ~100 venders
Description
Located on the Northwest shoreline just inside the wall, the Briar is a Black Market hub of rationed goods from in and outside the city. From fresh meat and honey to plastics and spare parts, this market has it all. New materials are brought over by boat from the lake and smuggled in. While the government imposes strict rations are certain goods, the Barren Legion is responsible for policing imports but, as the Barren are hit the worst by rations, they are more than happy to turn a blind eye. As long as the smugglers and shop keepers aren’t obvious they’ve left alone, for a small cut of the goods of course. Is the government aware of any of this? They have their suspicions, but until recent years they didn’t care enough. Now, with more humans refusing to start families and taxation and rationing being the only means to pressure them, the government is more concerned than ever about the black market dealings. Whether they can do anything about it remains to be seen.
